The first two months of our 2018 challenge have been a great success. In February we concentrated on the importance of our diet with ‘Fruity February’. March saw us focus on fitness and the body with ‘Move More March’.
Now, you may have the diet of a health guru and the fitness of an athlete, but you can still suffer from unhappiness and ill health if you are not also giving proper attention to your mental wellbeing as well.
Did you know that studies show a link between being creative and being happy? Increasing evidence has shown that enjoying the arts can significantly improve health and wellbeing as well as preventing illness; which is why Independence Homes has themed April: ‘Arty April’.
Don’t forget that the arts includes not just the visual arts such as drawing, sculpture and painting but also includes music, dance, theatre, film and books.
There will be a whole host of activities involving arts which Independence Homes are enjoying this month, such as clay modelling and T-shirt printing. It is also the annual art exhibition, which is taking place at the Croydon Clock Tower until the 27 April. This offers a chance to see the fantastic self-portraiture pieces Service Users have created. For further details please see our Facebook events: Facebook Events
We are challenging everyone to introduce more art into their life. Activities like painting, sculpting, drawing, and photography are relaxing and rewarding hobbies that can lower your stress levels and leave you feeling calm.
However you choose to bring more creativity into your life, you won’t regret it.
