Who we are

At Independence Homes, we do things differently. Our organisation was built on the belief that independent minds deserve independent lives – no matter what stands in the way. After 20 years, we have grown to become a team of over 400 experts who are experienced in caring for people with a huge range of physical and neurological conditions.

Our reputation is built on exceptional care and support. We are exceptionally pleased that for our last CQC inspection, we received the overall rating of outstanding for the domiciliary service that we provide.

Our straightforward approach to complex matters has made us drivers of change in the care industry. Every day each one of the 130 plus service users challenge stereotypes and break down existing perceptions of what it’s like to live with a disability.

Since we began in 1997, we have grown to become the best at what we do through investing in our people. By nurturing and rewarding their hard work and dedication, we keep providing consistent, high-quality care to those who need it most.

A brief history

The mission from the outset was to provide exceptional living environments for young adults with complex needs providing the extra support they need to live independently and to pursue their goals. The doors to our first, residential, service opened in August 1997, in Sutton.

Our initial specialism was in epilepsy. We sought out locations to expand our services within vibrant community settings, where the individual would be able to access a range of opportunities, including education, work and leisure activities.

Extensive experience combined with a focus on continual development resulted in our specialism in supporting a range of conditions continue to grow and it now includes Cerebral Palsy, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, Acquired Brain Injury and Learning Disabilities.

We built a reputation for expertly training our staff and providing an in-house clinical team to bridge the gap between our support and the health services, which enables us to deliver care in a personalised and holistic way.

Today Independence Homes operates sixteen services across London and South East. We support over 130 individuals and employ over 400 staff. The company continues to grow but the genuine passion and dedication which set us apart continue to run through everything we do.
